A Trinity Triumph: Mr Lawrence Selected for State of Origin Duty

Published 22 Jun 2026

Trinity College Beenleigh is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of staff member Dylan Lawrence, who recently served as a Touch Judge Referee for the Men’s Under 19 State of Origin match last Thursday.

Mr Lawrence is a key leader within the College’s Sport and Athlete Development program and has been working tirelessly outside school hours to advance his refereeing career. His selection for the Origin fixture follows a series of strong performances in the Queensland Cup and consistent high‑level form throughout 2026.

Officiating such a significant match was a milestone he deeply valued.

“The selection is the next step in the refereeing pathway,” Mr Lawrence said. “It was such an enjoyable experience; I couldn’t stop smiling.”

A dedicated educator, Mr Lawrence has always sought guidance from experienced coaches across multiple levels to refine his craft and grow both as an official and as a person.

“I’ve learned the importance of work rate, attention to detail, communication and the willingness to learn,” he said.

These same principles shape his teaching, where he consistently reinforces the value of discipline, effort and continuous improvement with his students.

Mr Lawrence began touch judging at just 12 years old, initially as a way to earn pocket money and stay connected to the game he loves. His journey from junior official to State of Origin referee is a testament to his commitment, resilience and passion for Rugby League.
