Trinity College Beenleigh is thrilled to share the exciting news that 2025 Year 12 student Aaliyah Brandsen-Greig was offered the Griffith Brighter Futures Scholarship valued at $15,000.
The Brighter Futures Scholarship is the second-highest scholarship offered by Griffith University.
This caps off an incredible run of success for Aaliyah who was awarded both the Marist Award for Personal Achievement and Student Leaders Spirit Award at Trinity College Beenleigh last year.
She is not only proud of her achievements but also grateful for the support of her teachers and staff.
"Through the support of the school, especially all of my amazing teachers and the special graduation awards I was honoured to receive - I was able to celebrate this massive achievement," Aaliyah told Trinity College Beenleigh.
The former Trinity College Beenleigh student is eager to share her success with the community after facing major challenges during her Senior years at the College.
"I was diagnosed with epilepsy in early January 2024, just weeks before the beginning of Year 11 (and starting at a new school). I struggled with attendance due to medical episodes in the middle of the school day and medical appointments."
Despite her setbacks, Aaliyah persevered and received her QCE and a score of 87 on her ATAR. She also successfully completed a Diploma of Business and Certificate II in Hospitality, Tourism and Skills for work.
"I want students after me to know that no matter what life throws at you, you can achieve greatness and follow your dreams, you just need to find a back door. I am a perfect example of this," Aaliyah says.
"I got into University with an amazing scholarship pursuing my dream of nursing to help kids like me find hope in their life again and realise that their differences only fuel determination to achieve their goals."
Trinity College Beenleigh Assistant Principal for Senior Years Craig Hirst is filled with praise for Aaliyah's commitment to overcome great challenges and working had to achieve her goals.
“Aaliyah's achievements are a testament not only to her talent, but to her extraordinary resilience and spirit," Mr Hirst said.
“She faced challenges that would have stopped many in their tracks, yet she chose determination over defeat every single time. Watching her turn adversity into purpose has been nothing short of inspiring, and our entire community is proud of the young woman she has become."
Please join Trinity College Beenleigh in congratulating Aaliyah on her success and determination.
