Trinity College Beenleigh created a wonderful piece of history with the first-ever Women in Sports day on Tuesday April 29.

This historical occasion provided a platform for female students across the college to participate in a day filled with activities and seminars led by guest speakers in the High Performance and staff.

Trinity College staff member Miss Naish spoke about the importance of the day to help inspire the next generation of young women pursuing a career in sport.

"We hope that they learned a little bit about resilience on and off the field; how to overcome challenges that they will face and learning about different pathways," Miss Naish says.

The event was the brain child of a number of staff members last year who found some gaps that they felt that the students needed to fill in order to represent the school in sport.

They welcomed guest speakers across the High Performance space including players and coaches to help provide a greater insight into the elite athlete space.

"We targeted areas that focused on their resilience on and off the field how they were speaking about themselves and each other," Miss Naish says.

"We (staff members) all reflected on what we wish we had when we were in high school; and what we wish we knew when we got to this point as teachers and athletes ourselves."

"We wanted to give kids what we didn't have."
